Dear Families, Welcome to Third Grade! I am looking forward to working with you and your child as we spend an exciting year growing, discovering and learning together. Your child will meet new challenges this year and will be an active, responsible participant in his/her learning. For example your child will be taking a Third Grade Achievement Assessment through the State of Ohio in Mathematics and English Language Arts this year. To better help you and your family understand my classroom I have explained about a few things you will see this year. Third grade is an exciting year!
Class Expectations Our goal this year is to create a hard working environment with new experiences and routines. Do to my firm belief in positive reinforcement students will participate in a ticket reward system. Students will receive tickets throughout each nine weeks for being organized, prepared and making good choices. Students can also lose tickets for the opposite behavior. At the end of each nine weeks student will be able to redeem their tickets to shop at the class store. Thank you for support and understanding in making 3rd Grade a rewarding and meaningful year.
The Homework Packet Homework is a very important part of the learning process. Each Tuesday your child will bring home a homework packet this is to support and sometimes extend what your child is learning in third grade. I never want this to be a negative learning experience. I urge you to limit homework to about 30 minutes a night. If you can help encourage your child to follow a routine of completing a little homework each day it will help teach him/her how to plan ahead and manage their time. Homework packets are not due until Monday of the following week. Thank you for your support and cooperation. I look forward to an exciting and fulfilling year. Love, Mrs. Mikolich
